When we first had the chance to try the new Lenovo ThinkPad T410 laptop, we were quite surprised by its capabilities and performance. Lenovo describes this laptop as having a better CPU, a brighter LED display, a new design with lots of useful ports, enhanced VoIP, and amazing NVIDIA graphics. With a price starting at $829, we expect a lot of performance and lots of useful features. Lenovo seems to promise them, but we need to make sure they deliver. So we bought our very own Lenovo ThinkPad T410 notepad as a test subject. Aside its good looks and elegant design, this laptop comes with a lot of power. Let's see how it did in our tests and how good its scores are.
We started by testing the most important component of them all, the central processing unit (otherwise known as the CPU). The Lenovo ThinkPad T410 comes with a quite potent Intel Core i3 370 M Processor working at a speed of 2.4 GHz. This is high enough to meet even the most exigent demands. Further more, if works on an L3 cache of 3MB, and a front side bus of 1066 MHz. The processor behaved extremely well in all our tests and managed to receive a maximum of 10 out of 10 points. After testing the processor, it was time to test the memory, so we started by taking a look at what it has to offer. WE were thrilled to find 2 GB of DDR3 random access memory (RAM) working at a high speed of 1067 MHz. This memory was fast enough to pass all our exigent tests with brio. Although the Lenovo ThinkPad T410 comes with 2 GB of RAM, users can upgrade to the maximum of 4 GB for increased performance.
Next came the shock. The hard disk drive is almost large enough to store all our movies, games, and documents, but its low speed of just 5400 rotations per minute (rpm) has a negative impact on the overall performance of the Lenovo ThinkPad T410 notebook. We are forced to give it a low, 6 out of 10 score here. The Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 5700 MHD graphics processing unit (GPU) behaved very well and was able to output sharp and crisp graphics on the laptop's 14.1 WXGA TFT display. Due to this, we are happy to give a score of 9 out of a maximum of 10 points. Although not the most powerful laptop, the Lenovo ThinkPad T410 does its job and manages to obtain lots of positive reviews from its users.
